This past weekend we got our first official overnight visitors. One of my best friends Laura and her boyfriend Trevor came for a visit. Like Tony, Laura was born in Montreal and moved to Oakville when she was in elementary school. And also like Tony, she didn’t keep up with her French! But she did introduce me to some of Montreal’s favourites.
Here’s some highlights from our weekend:
Every Saturday night during the summer Old Montreal (or the Old Port as it’s officially refered to) has their Firework Competition. I would estimate that there were at least a thousand people there that night gazing at Switzerland’s display. Laura was quick to spot a Monsieur Felix & Mr Norton cookie truck and insisted that we couldn’t leave until we tried one of their cookies. This was a childhood favourite of hers and they are quite well know in Quebec. And she was right they’re pretty good cookies. They have that homemade feel. I personally love the Caramelt version.
